English (ئینگلیزی)
Ali Abu al-Hasan ibn Abdul Hai Hasani, famously known as Abul Hasan Ali al-Nadwi, was an eminently influential Islamic scholar, thinker, revivalist, and author of the 20th century. Renowned for his eloquent command of both Arabic and Urdu, his intellectual contributions bridged the gap between traditional Islamic sciences and modern thought, deeply impacting contemporary Islamic discourse worldwide.

Early Life, Academic Foundation, and Title:
Abul Hasan al-Nadwi was born in 1913 CE (1332 AH) in the village of Takia, Uttar Pradesh, India, into a highly distinguished family of Hasani scholars (descendants of the Prophet Muhammad). He completed his advanced studies at the prestigious Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama in Lucknow, where he later served as a professor and eventually its rector—hence the title "al-Nadwi." He mastered Quranic exegesis, Hadith studies, and Arabic literature under the foremost subcontinental scholars of his era.

Global Activism and Institutional Leadership:
Shaykh al-Nadwi was a cosmopolitan figure whose influence transcended India. He was one of the founding members of the Muslim World League (Rabitah al-Alam al-Islami) and served as the first chairman of the International League of Islamic Literature. In recognition of his monumental services to Islam and the global Muslim community, he was awarded the prestigious **King Faisal International Prize for Service to Islam** in 1980.

Revivalist Philosophy and Methodology:
Intellectually, al-Nadwi focused on reviving Islamic identity and restoring self-confidence within the Muslim Ummah. He argued that the decline of Islamic civilization was not merely a loss for Muslims, but a moral tragedy for all of humanity. His methodology of Dawah (Islamic calling) emphasized wisdom, spiritual purification (Tazkiyah), and balancing orthodox religious authenticity with a nuanced understanding of modernity. He passed away in 1999 CE (1420 AH) at the age of 86 while reciting Surah Ya-Sin.

Prolific Works and Intellectual Legacy:
Shaykh al-Nadwi left behind a monumental corpus of over 100 books and treatises, widely translated into numerous global languages. Key notable bibliography includes:
